The Commission is composed of faculty, administrators, and trustees from affiliated institutions as well as a number of public members, all of whom serve on a voluntary basis, and is served by an experienced staff led by Dr. ![]() NECHE currently accredits over 200 institutions across the globe. Members are degree granting post-secondary educational institutions offering higher education and located inside or outside the United States, including, but not limited to, the States of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Quincy College is accredited by The New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), a voluntary, non-governmental membership association that serves as an institutional accreditor and promotes educational excellence and quality assurance to its member institutions. DeCristofaro holds a Doctorate in Education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, a master’s degree in both Special Education and Elementary Education from Suffolk University and a bachelor’s degree in Education from North Adams State College.Ĭontact the Office of the President at (617) 984-1776 DeCristofaro also has many years of teaching experience at the elementary, middle and high school levels, up to teaching college courses at Quincy College, Bridgewater State College and Eastern Nazarene College.ĭr. DeCristofaro was Principal at Snug Harbor Community School and Assistant Principal at Point Webster Middle School. Prior to assuming the role of Assistant Superintendent for Quincy Public Schools in 1993, Dr. DeCristofaro grew up in the city and has worked in Quincy his entire career. Richard DeCristofaro, appointed as the President of Quincy College in June of 2020, served the City of Quincy as the Superintendent/ Assistant Superintendent of Quincy Public Schools for 27 years. In 1991, the school founded the Plymouth campus located thirty minutes south of Quincy in downtown Plymouth, Massachusetts.Ībout President Richard DeCristofaro, Ed.D.ĭr. Less than five years later, Quincy College was empowered to award the Associate in Arts and the Associate in Science degrees. In the Fall of that same year, the first freshman class began at what will later be known as Quincy College. In May of 1958, College Courses, Inc., a non-profit charitable organization, was officially formed to help further higher education on the South Shore. This committee recommended that a community college should exist and as early as 1956, the first college-level courses are offered. Quincy College Historyĭuring the mid-1950s, demand for higher education on the South Shore, and Quincy in particular, led to the creation of the Citizen’s Committee appointed to study the feasibility of establishing a community college. Quincy College offers open-access and selective programs focusing on academic achievement and excellence, fostering diversity, providing economic opportunity, promoting community involvement, and supporting lifelong learning. We foster valuable learning relationships that inspire students to realize their educational and professional futures. The college draws a diversity of students from the greater Boston area, as well as 100 countries around the world. The college is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), and is licensed by the Board of Higher Education of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to grant the degrees of Associate in Arts and Associate in Science a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
